Kevin McGovern began his comics career in Portland, Oregon.  Plucked from an illustrators’ poorhouse by Scott Allie and smuggled through a network of waterfront Shanghai tunnels, he was put to work on several issues of Allie’s horror comic Sick Smiles, from which the seed of Exurbia was sown.  After that things get a little blurry and probably aren’t worth delving into, although a few artifacts do remain of his various freelance projects, which include some self-published ‘zines and a strip depicting the horrors of global warming for Greenpeace France.  Nonetheless, after toiling in obscurity for nigh on thirteen years, he managed to defy his critics and complete this book despite the demands of a full-time job.

 

Kevin currently lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife and four cats where he bides his time until yet another thirteen years have elapsed and his next book is unleashed on an unsuspecting public.
